Volunteers carry water for miles to help tule elk dying in Point Reyes drought conditions

POINT REYES, Calif. (KGO) — Volunteers carried out an emergency water drop this weekend, attempting to help the uncommon tule elk which have been dying in drought conditions on the Point Reyes Nationwide Seashore.

Saturday afternoon, practically 100 individuals carried water three miles to a pond that’s on the verge of drying up.

The Nationwide Park Service is embroiled in a lawsuit over the elk, one third of the herd has died in the previous yr from lack of water or enough foliage to eat.
