Navy helicopter crashes into water off San Diego coast; rescue operation underway

SAN DIEGO — A U.S. Navy helicopter has crashed into the Pacific Ocean off the coast of San Diego, army officers mentioned Tuesday night.

The MH-60S helicopter, launched into the USS Abraham Lincoln, was conducting routine flight operations about 60 nautical miles off the coast when it crashed into the water round 4:30 p.m., based on the Navy.

Search-and-rescue operations had been underway involving a number of assets from the Coast Guard and Navy.

It was not instantly recognized how many individuals had been on board the plane.

The reason for the crash might be investigated.
